Professional Experience

Hope Alliance; Round Rock, Texas

Community Outreach Advocate


Job Responsibilities:

  • Support non-residential clients with crisis, intervention and peer counseling in person and over the telephone.
  • Provide community resources to non-residential clients at the office and throughout the county.
  • Perform weekly check ins as a CARE Manager for clients on Legal Advocacy and Therapy wait lists.
  • Liaise with relevant community agencies and resources to facilitate wrap around services for clients.
  • Organize community engagement and education efforts among staff, interns, and volunteers.
  • Speak, present, and facilitate trainings on Hope Alliance services and violence dynamics to community partners.

  • Represented women and students with children, in the union’s work, to University committees, colleges, and external organizations.
  • Chaired a University and community committee on harassment and violence prevention.
  • Advocated successful for the updating of the University’s Harassment policy and procedures.
  • Network gender focused groups throughout the university
  • Created and managed OUSU’s Leadership Development Program and OUSU’s Sexual Consent Program.
  • Recruited and trained volunteer facilitators for OUSU’s Leadership Development Program and OUSU’s Sexual Consent Program.
  • Institutionalized It Happens Here, a sexual violence prevention and awareness raising student campaign that is now a template for student campaigns throughout UK university campuses.
  • Resourced & supported student campaigns (Women’s Campaign, It Happens Here) and student officers.
  • Wrote successful grant and funding applications for the It Happens Here campaign.
  • Designed, wrote, and disseminated pamphlets on Harassment & Stalking and Supporting Survivors of Rape to the University community.
